UPVC Replacement Door Handles

The handles on your doors get worn out over time and need to be replaced. In this case, it is crucial that the new handles conform to the critical dimensions of the handle that was previously used.

Inline Lever/Lever

A lever handle or lever is a modern door handle designed to work with new or replacement doors. This type door handle is available in a variety of styles and finishes. This handle is offered by several manufacturers, including Avocet ERA Fullex Hoppe Mila Millenco Yale.

The uPVC/Composite door handles are constructed of durable materials and are perfect for doors with multi-point locks which require a robust design. The handles for patio doors are inline and work with the same spindle as well as screw fixings. They can be easily incorporated into doors made of uPVC/Composite, either new or old.

The spring lever design allows the handle to be placed and angled for comfortable operation and is suitable for all users. The handle has been tested to 200 000 cycles. This helps to ensure that the finish is of high quality and performance over time. The sprung lever can be shortened to fit the widest range of locks. This is particularly useful for doors with narrower frames, where the cylinder is located further back. A shortened lever can also be used on doors with latches that can be opened by the thumb located on the inside.

Lever Pad

A Lever Pad door handle made of upvc functions differently from lever-type handles that are found on the majority of doors. These handle types can either operate from a single spindle (inline) or independently from each side by using two offset or inline spindles (pad). They are typically used on UPVC double glazing door handles glazed doors and come in a variety of styles and finishes.

The handles have been tested to at least 200k cycles and are available in a variety of finishes including White Silver, Chrome, & Gold. The finish is BS EN 1670 Grade 5 and resistant to corrosion. This provides the handle with the best performance and durability to serve its intended use.

All of the UPVC lever pad styles for handles come with screws and a spindle which allow them to be installed on an existing or new uPVC door. The backplate fixing centres of 211mm allow for a larger size of handle which can often be a benefit when replacing upvc window handles a damaged or worn multi-point door lock mechanism. The handle levers are spring-loaded, thereby solving the issue of window handles that slide from their horizontal position when they are not being used.

It is crucial to match up the dimensions of the PZ for both the multipoint lock and the uPVC doors when choosing the replacement UPVC spindle and handle. This measurement may also be called 'handle centre or cylinder centre'. It is important for matching the correct handles.

When you have the right PZ size, you'll be required to make sure that the lever pads and push pads are a suitable shape to fit the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant handles that you need for your doors. These are typically round or square, with an internal lever, and an external push pad.

Most of the UPVC lever pads that we sell are sprung, meaning that they will return to their horizontal position when not in use, instead of hanging out and potentially sticking in the frame. This stops draughts from entering the building. You will also find that the majority of UPVC lever pad handles are hand-operated, allowing you to install them on either side of the door.

Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks are typically used on uPVC doors, but can also be used on other types of door. They work with a key to unlock a cylinder case that is then revealed with pins that can be aligned to those in the lock body and allow them to rotate the cam, thereby opening the door. Euro cylinders can be fitted with up to six pins. Doors that are internal and external require different levels of security.

The selection of a cylinder is essential. It's dependent on the use that your doors and handles receive. For instance, doors that are external should be fitted with a higher security cylinder, whilst internal doors can be secured using a standard cylinder. Additionally, certain cylinders come with additional features that increase security further, such as anti-drill and anti-bump characteristics.

To ensure that the euro cylinder is of the right size for your door, it should be measured accurately. The cylinder must be measured from the screw hole in the center to the ends of the cylinder. This includes the thumb turn if there is one. It is recommended to do this while the lock is in place, but if this is not feasible, you can take it off and remove it to take measurements. It is important to not have a extension of the cylinder beyond the handle or escutcheon. This can make it vulnerable to lock snapping attacks.

The design of the latest cylinders includes anti-drilling and bump resistance features. They are designed to decrease the chances of an attack by forcing the cylinder rotate in the opposite direction. This can help to deflect an attack and ensure your door is secure.

Some cylinders are designed to resist snapping. This is a more frequent kind of attack on cylinders, where the break line inside the lock is targeted by a tool that is specially designed to snap off the front of the cylinder and allow the patio door handle locks to be opened. This is a quicker and easier way to gain access than through a multipoint locking system. It also leaves less evidence of the burglary which could make it difficult to prove insurance claims.

Spring Cassette

The spring cassette is positioned inside the base of your door handle's backplate providing a sprung solution and returning the multipoint lock handles back to their original position after using. In the past, a lot of these types of handle did not have a spring built into them, and without it they tend to droop or drop once the locking mechanism has been disengaged. This simple component is the most effective way to solve this issue. It also prevents your door from becoming stuck in either the open or closed position since they aren't easy to close manually.

The spring cassettes were made to be used with a sprung multipoint locks. They will not fit handles that are not sprung, and you will have to cut a hole into your backplate for them to fit. They are sold as a single unit. They come with a square cut out that is able to accommodate an 8mm shaft.

These spring cassettes are a great value solution to the problem of sagging door handles. They are easy to fit and will increase the life span of your uPVC doors.
